Setting up Hypercare
Hypercare, a secure messaging app on a smartphone is becoming an increasingly important tool in the ER. Many GIM consultants are happy to receive consults directly through Hypercare instead of paging. Even some radiologists can be contacted. Increasingly, on Call lists are being supported.

For COVID, Hypercare is the tool to contact 24/7 Homeless Covid housing support.
Hypercare can, in a pinch, be used on the desktop too; https://app.hypercare.com/login ; Just pick the default "Login with MGH" and then sign-in to the iCare page using normal credentials .

View Patients on Firstnet

It is useful to see the patients you signed up for in firstnet. Either for new Billing considerations for COVD, or for following up patients that you might have seen in the past. Hint: If you want a comprehensive list, make sure you sign up for patients that have been "signed over to you" or consider signing up then unsigning up for a patient (e.g. conscious sedation or assisting in a code)

How to Use Dragon

Dragon is a good alternative to phone dictation especially if you are not already used to phone dictation, or if you want to start your note when you first see the patient and be able to update before they leave. Very useful if you need to give a copy of the visit to the patient/nursing home as they leave.
If you are not already set up, contact David Rosenstein for further setup assistance and best practices.
Below link is to an old document that shows how to use dragon with Powernotes. It shows the outdated way of logging in. you now login right from the dragon button in Powerchart. Complicated to follow, so consider contacting IT, David Rosenstein or another user for live training.

How to place Dragon into a Powernote

New! Dragon dictation can now be done at home directly from Smartphone and integrate live into Powerchart. Also possible in ER at computers without the microphone. Just pick the mobilephone app option when selecting the microphone. If your cell signal is not strong enough, then connect to the MGH staff wifi with your usual powerchart credentials.

Electronic Discharge Rx

Not really COVID specific, but if you are ready to go electronic and improve consistency, tracking, allergy checking, use our well built tool that includes the drug, dose, duration, LU codes, etc... broken down by useful categories. Update from the origianal "add Order" procedure.

Access to Hospital Wi-Fi
To improve access to Hypercare and other data based smartphone needs, we now all have access to the hospital Wi-Fi. Just search for Wi-Fi and select "MGH Staff"; login using your usual Powerchart Credentials.

Long Distance Codes

If you need to make a long distance call (to talk to family, or increasingly often cell numbers for Recall or ED COVID Telephone followup) you can use the ER MD long distance code.
