Return to Work (RTW) Clearance (page 14)
1. If HCWs tested positive for COVID-19:
​
ï‚·Symptomatic HCWs will be cleared to RTW if:
i. 10 days self-isolation period is completed. Date of symptoms onset is considered as day 0.
AND
ii. Symptoms have significantly improved or resolved for at least 24 hours, gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms for at least 48 hours.
AND
iii. The HCW has been afebrile for 24 hours (without the use of antipyretics)

Note in cases of critical staff shortages, if approved by the acting Medical Director, Infection Prevention and Control individuals may be allowed to return at day 7 if:
​
1) RAT negative on day 6 and 7
AND
2) Symptoms have significantly improved or resolved for at least 24 hours, gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms for at least 48 hours.
AND
3) The HCW has been afebrile for 24 hours (without the use of medication)
​
Asymptomatic HCWs will be cleared to RTW if:
i. If the employee has 2 negative PCR test with the last 72 hours after the first positive result and employee remains asymptomatic
OR
ii. 10 days self-isolation period is completed. Date of collection of first positive test is considered day 0.
AND
iii. HCW remains asymptomatic

Note in cases of critical staff shortages, if approved by the acting Medical Director, Infection Prevention and Control individuals may be allowed to return at day 7 if:
​
1) RAT negative on day 6 and 7

Note: HCWs who have completed their 10 days self-isolation and are still symptomatic will be connected with a Disability Claims Specialist for continued follow up.
​
2. If HCW tested negative for COVID-19: The HCW can return to work when symptoms resolve or at least significantly better for at least 24h. Once a negative result is received and if symptoms continue, HCW will follow regular sick policy.

For urgent scrub issues (e.g. you need scrubs and machine does not work or not credits). During business hours, ext. 7784 - after hours, vocera "porter Lead hand". They can get you scrubs.

Which Swab and which tube for basic C&S (throat or wound)?
the Rule is as follows: do your basic C&S always with a WHITE swab (not pink) - you can then put it into a WHITE or PINK topped tube. Don't use the Pink swab (in the single or double set) for the swab. some pink topped tubes have a white and pink swab - use the white one.
